Tongits Online – Laro na with phjoy1
The card game every Filipino knows, now playable for real pesos anytime, anywhere.
If you grew up in the Philippines, you already know Tongits. It's the card game your lola taught you during fiestas, the one that kept the whole barkada up until 2AM during holidays, the one where the stakes started small and the arguments about who should have won lasted until breakfast. It's as Filipino as it gets – and at phjoy1, we've brought that same experience online so you can play it whenever you want, against real players, for real money.
Tongits at phjoy1 uses the same rules you already know. A 52-card deck, three players per table, and the objective of either going out by melding all your cards into valid sets and runs, or finishing with the lowest deadwood count when the stock pile runs out. The familiar mechanics are all there – drawing from the stock, stealing from the discard pile, making your melds, and deciding the perfect moment to declare Tongits or call a fight. The only difference is that you're doing it on your phone or laptop, against players from all over the Philippines, with real pesos on the table.
phjoy1 offers multiple table stakes for Tongits, from low-buy-in tables perfect for casual players to higher stakes rooms for those who play seriously. New players are always welcome, and the interface is clean enough that even if this is your first time playing online, you'll be comfortable within a few hands. The game moves fast, payouts go straight to your GCash, and 24/7 customer support is always a message away if you need help.

How Tongits Works – Rules at phjoy1
A quick refresher whether you're new to the game or just new to playing online.
The Setup
Tongits is played with a standard 52-card deck between three players. Each player is dealt 12 cards, except the dealer who receives 13. The remaining cards form the stock pile at the centre of the table.
Taking Your Turn
On your turn, you draw one card from either the stock pile or the discard pile. You can then meld sets or runs from your hand to the table. End your turn by discarding one card face-up to the pile.
Making Melds
Lay down valid combinations face-up from your hand. You can also add to other players' existing melds (called "stealing" or "sagot"). Once cards are melded, they reduce your deadwood count.
Winning – Tongits or Fight
You win by declaring Tongits (melding all your remaining cards) or by calling a Fight when the stock runs out – whichever player has the lowest total deadwood wins the pot. Timing both is the heart of the strategy.
Scoring & Pot
At phjoy1, each player antes up at the start. The winner takes the pot. In Tournament mode, players pay a fixed entry fee and advance through rounds, with the final pot split among the top finishers.
Face Card Values
Aces are worth 1 point, number cards face value, and face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are worth 10 points each as deadwood. The lower your unmelded total when a fight is called, the better your position.
Tongits Strategy Tips from phjoy1 Regulars
These aren't just textbook tips – these come from players who grind the tables daily.
Watch the Discard Pile
The discard pile tells you what your opponents don't need – which usually means what they already have. If you see multiple cards of the same rank dropped, your three-of-a-kind with that rank may be blocked. Adjust your strategy accordingly.
Know When to Call a Fight
Calling a fight at the wrong time is how you lose pots you should have won. Before declaring, estimate your opponents' deadwood. If you see they've been melding a lot and your count is still decent, hold off. The right timing separates good players from great ones.
Keep High-Value Cards Short
Face cards and tens carry 10 deadwood points each. If you're holding Kings and Queens you can't meld, they're a liability. Discard them early unless they're one card away from completing a set – don't cling to beautiful cards that will cost you the fight.
Build Flexible Melds
A three-card run can become a four-card run if the right card comes. Hold cards that extend your existing melds rather than holding isolated high cards. Flexibility in your hand keeps your options open as the game develops.
Don't Always Rush Tongits
Tongits is the dream win but sometimes it's smarter to fight at the right moment with a low count than to keep drawing hoping for that last card. If an opponent is close to Tongits, calling a fight while you're ahead of them in points wins the pot too.
Manage Your Buy-In Wisely
Start at a table where your buy-in gives you at least 10–15 rounds of play. Playing scared with a short stack leads to bad decisions. At phjoy1 you can top up anytime via GCash – but set a session budget and stick to it for a fun, sustainable experience.
